Léon Buskens

Professor Dr. Léon Buskens holds the Chair of Law and Culture in Muslim Societies at Leiden University. He combines this appointment with the directorship of both LUCIS, Centre for the Study of Islam and Society and NISIS, the Netherlands Interuniversity School for Islam Studies. Léon was Visiting Fellow at Princeton University and obtained a private chair for Islamic Law at Utrecht University in 1998. Having lived in several Middle Eastern countries, Leon speaks Moroccan Arabic and is internationally known as an expert on Islamic Law. He is actively engaged in society, organises debates and congresses, and presents at ministries and at training courses for the judiciary. Together with Oscar van Weerdenburg he has run many successful in-house seminars for corporations operating in the Middle East.

Oscar van Weerdenburg

Oscar van Weerdenburg is one of the most frequently invited speakers on cross cultural management at large international corporate conferences - and has acted as a consultant at board level on resolving cross cultural issues for major corporations including Royal Dutch Shell, Vodafone, Daimler and DSM. He lectures as Visiting Professor at INSEAD and recently received an award for Lecturer of the Year from Chalmers University in Sweden, for his sharp, colourful and humorous way of capturing cultural differences and suggesting ways to reconcile them in a business context. Oscar is Managing Director of Intercultural Business Improvement Ltd., which runs interactive and practical cross cultural training programmes for a great number of internationally operating corporations.
