Tao Yue, born in Shanghai, has lived in the Netherlands since 2000. She took her B.A. in English language and literature at Fudan University and M.A. in social sciences (cum laude) at the University of Amsterdam. Her specialty is Chinese society and culture. Her M.A. thesis, 'Metaphysical Risk Management in Post-Maoist China,' describes and explains the revival of folk metaphysics and its influence on Chinese decision making.

Currently International Program Officer and China Specialist at Leiden University, Tao Yue is responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships between Leiden University and Chinese sister institutions. Her recent book Study in the Netherlands (Shanghai, 2004) stresses intercultural accommodation and is widely used by Chinese students and institutions.
