Teams are the most important operational unit within organisations. When operating effectively they achieve results beyond those possible by a collection of people operating individually. However, when not running smoothly teams can be destructive - destructive of the organisation and of the participating individuals. Given current trends for flat organisations, and for teams spanning cultures, borders and professional backgrounds, the need to enhance teamworking skills is becoming ever more important.
IBI teamwork programmes address these issues and provide a framework for your multicultural teams to develop into effective, high performing teams. Our objective is to enhance participants' understanding of the challenges that multicultural teams face, to help create the climate in which their teams will thrive, and to develop the personal behaviours and work practices that lead to high team performance.
For customised programmes, we start with an in-depth analysis of the issues the team faces: What are the team's strategy and objectives? Do team members work across distance, how often do they meet? Is one culture likely to dominate? Are there real and perceived status differences between members? What is the perceived leadership style?
Based on the answers to these and related questions, we then propose a training programme to the client. We recommend the right tools for assessing differences between team members, and national and organisational cultural differences impacting on performance. The programme will often include a workshop, which may be preceeded by individual preparation and followed by assignments to ensure that learning will be translated to the workplace.
